Custom fields won't show on invoice (yes, they are set to print)

I am attempting to add a custom field to our invoices. I go into manage custom fields and create the field. I make sure print on invoice is selected. When I go to an invoice it isn't there. So I click "customize" then "edit current". When the edit window comes up and I click to customize the top section, the custom fields are there! But no matter what I do, they don't show up when editing/printing/or previewing an invoice. ONLY in the customize screen, and I cannot add/remove/relocate/or edit the custom fields there.

It's nice to see you here, accounting160.

I've checked our records and haven't seen any open cases with this situation. I also tried adding a custom field on my test file and it shows up on the invoice. Here's a sample screenshot for reference:

I'll share some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. Your browser tends to store cache files from the websites you visited. Over time, these cache gets corrupted, which causes issues in some pages.

Let's try logging into your account through a private browser or incognito. This mode doesn't save your browsing history, cookies and site data.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command Option P

If you can see the custom field using the incognito or private browser, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Clearing cache on a daily basis fixes certain problems, like loading or formatting issues on sites. Please make sure to close and re-open your browser to refresh the settings.

Using other supported browsers can be a good alternative, too.

Please let me know how it goes. I'm always here to lend a helping hand. Take care!
