Desktop Point of Sale 18 Pro - Excel Not Found -Error

Thank you for stopping by the Community, @PurpleLLC.

If you’re trying to export data, I'd be happy to assist you with getting past the error message you're getting.

There are some possible reasons why you're unable to export data to excel:

  • The exported file is not supported with file type CSV, XLS, or XLSX.
  • There is a problem with the report or the data file itself.
  • QuickBooks installations and MS Office are damaged.

You can also try closing the Excel app through the Task Manager section. It's possible that it's running in the background or multiple times which is causing this unexpected behavior.

Here's how:

  1. Let's press the Ctrl + Alt+ Delete key then click on Task Manager to open.
  2. Under the Processes tab, select Excel.exe.
  3. Click on End Process.

If you get the same result, you can repair the Microsoft Office to fix possible damaged files. After that, try to export your data again to Excel.

Keep me posted on how it goes. I'll be here to keep helping you with exporting data to excel. Wishing you and your business continued success.

  • The exported file is not supported with file type CSV, XLS, or XLSX.

Not finding any Corresponding issues with these files in the system. All files operate fine pulling up in excel even after fully closed out.

  • There is a problem with the report or the data file itself.

So When exactly in the process would this be, The program does not even attempt to load excel. Is there a Cache of the report when I run it, and Quickbooks is continually creating bad Report Files on that back end ?

  • QuickBooks installations and MS Office are damaged.

I Cannot find any corresponding evidence of MS office being damaged, there at no point any issues with it, including its use with other programs. I even ran the Repair function to see if any change, however no changes.

Is this Meaning Qucikbooks is Damaged ? What other symptoms would Quickbooks Demonstrate to validate this ?

No issues with Excel is found on its closing, When I close out of Excel its closing out of task manager. The other thing is, prior to the issue, it did not matter if I had running Excel sheets in the background along with it, it still functioned.

I appreciate you for providing detailed information with your concern, @PurpleLc.

You may experience this unexpected behavior if the report is filtered incorrectly or if there's a potential company file data damage. To fix this, let's start with clearing the report filters.

Here's how:

  1. Run the report.
  2. From the Report window, select Modify.
  3. Select Revert to remove all filters applied on a report.
  4. Re-run the report then export it to excel.

If you get the same result, let's check for data issues. Let's try to create and export the report in a test file to verify if this unexpected behavior is file-specific.

Here's how:

  1. From the File menu, select Company Operations.
  2. Choose Create a New Company.
  3. Enter the Company Name, then select Create.
  4. Once a test file is created, run the same report.

If you get the same result, follow Solution 3, if not, perform Solution 2 outlined in this article: Resolve common issues with Point of Sale Reports.

Once done. let's perform a clean install to troubleshoot and resolve software issues.

First, make sure to create a backup copy of your data file. Then, prepare your POS download file or installation CD, License and Product Numbers. Lastly, sign in as Windows Administrator before performing the steps.

When ready, start uninstalling QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale. To do that, follow the steps below:

  1. Press Windows + R on your keyboard to open the Run window.
  2. Type Control Panel, then click OK.
  3. Click Uninstall a Program or Programs and Features.
  4. Select QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale and click Uninstall/Change.
  5. Follow on-screen instructions.

Once done, rename all Point of Sale folders. Follow Steps 2 to 4 on the article perform a clean reinstall to complete the process.

Updating:

What ended up as solution to this issue at this time, Is the Creation of a new Windows 10 Profile, was able to load PoS and it recognised Excel with no issues.

I am reverting this profile when needing Exports done.
