This is a bit of a weird one:

I'm evaluating our inventory and markups, and I'm wondering if there is a report in Enterprise that will show me sales that are below the price of the item, aka anything that my employees have given discounts on.

The reason is this: One of my "reps" is our online store. Rather than sort through the literal thousands of inventory items we have listed online, I'd like to see which ones are being sold below the price listed in Quickbooks. I know I can run a report that shows sales by item and I can filter by rep, but I cannot get it to show either the cost or price we have listed in Quickbooks, meaning I can't export it and organize it by markup/discount in any way. Sales by Rep similarly does not have this feature.

There's a variety of reasons we've chosen not to sync our online store inventory with our store inventory, in part because we can drop ship many items direct from the manufacturer. We evaluated the idea and decided against syncing, so I'm not looking for suggestions for 3rd party software for this purpose. Thank you for understanding.

TLDR: I want to see sales (filtered by a certain rep, preferrably) with both the actual sales price on the invoice and either the cost or price from QB in a single report so I don't have to find all of the information twice.

Thanks all!

Hello, @Operations_Monkey.

The discounted invoices or sales receipt does not change the price or rate of the item. It only changes the total balance or total amount of the sales transaction. At this time, you can open the Sales by Rep Detail report and ad the Item and Sales Price column to your customization to view the sales price of the item as well as the discounted amount.

Here's how:

  1. Click on Sales from Reports at the top menu bar.
  2. Select Sales by Rep Detail.
  3. On the report's page, click on Customize report.
  4. Go to the Display column, then include the Item and Sales Price column under Columns.
  5. Make the rest of the customization you want, then tap OK.

Once completed, you can see the sales price of the item and the amount of the discount.

While I appreciate this information, it's not what I'm looking for. I'm not worried about the sales changing the price, I know this won't affect our system pricing. The report you're suggesting only shows me how much the actual sale was, not how much the item retails for. I want to compare my sales from my online store to our prices so I can see which listings are selling below the price we have in the system. So I need a report that shows both Sales Price from the transaction and either the Price or Cost of the item so I can evaluate which items are selling below an acceptable amount online.

Because we allow offers below the price, we have quite a few that sell below the price. What I need to find out is if there are any listings selling too low in comparison to the correct price without spending hours doing it. If I can export a report with both Sales Price and Price, I can create a column to calculate the discount and sort by that. However, I have not yet found a report that takes individual transaction information for items and allows me to also look at either the price (or the cost, where I would just calculate markup instead). I'm not entirely sure this is possible.

Thank you for getting back to us, @Operations_Monkey

The feature to run a report that'll show both the sales price and the price or cost of the item is unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop.

However, you can have the Item price list report to show the sales price of each item on your Item list.

To do it:

  1. Go to the Reports menu and select Customers and Receivables.
  2. Choose Item Price List

Bummer. Yeah, I can individually sort through all of the items (fastest way is to just search the item list), or I can make a report of sales by item sorted by rep. I would still just need 2 separate reports to accomplish what I would like to do. So I guess I'm once again asking for something impossible. Thanks for the information, I'll make it work.
