Hello. I have a Vendor that is also Customer. I've already set it up as a Vendor, and the system doesn't allow to set up a Customer with the same name used by a Vendor

Welcome to the Community, jchester.

You've come to the right place for assistance with QuickBooks. I'd be glad to show you how to set up a customer that's also a vendor.

One option to consider would be to slightly alter the display name when adding the vendor. Here's how:

1. Choose the Sales tab, then Customers.

2. Select the green New customer button in the top right corner.

3. Enter the name differently by adding a middle initial or another character to set it apart from the vendor entry. Or Change the Display name as format to "last, first".

4. Click Save.

I've got an article for you that offers additional info about this process. You can take a look at it here: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/manage-lists/error-the-name-supplied-already-exist....

Please don't hesitate to reach back out if you have any other questions. I'll be here to help.

I need both to be exactly the same. Isn't it possible?

Thanks for following up, jchester.

At this time, the vendor and customer names do require some sort of variation. The system won't accept the names if they're exactly the same.

You can keep any eye out for any types of changes and updates by viewing our blog: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/blog/.

I'm here if there's anything else I can assist with.
