Join nowHi All- I'm using QB 2013 Desktop - I can run a Journal Entry (JE) Report no problem. What I can't figure out or find a answer to is how to collapse the detail in each of the JEs in the report to just show the totals of each account in each of the JEs. The default obviously set to show each line item that makes up the JE.
I hope that makes sense.
Thanks so much for your help

Hi Michael K- You probably didn't understand my question. What I was asking is, in fact, an available feature even on QB Desktop 2013. In preferences "Reports & Graphs" under Company Preferences, I needed to check the box "Collapse Transactions". This enabled the "Collapse/Expand" button on the Journal Entry Report. Now I can see the detail or collapse it as necessary.
Thanks,
Rob
Good Afternoon, @2robertc.
I'm here to provide you with some information about your Journal Entry report.
Although this option would be great for other users like you, this isn't available in QuickBooks at this moment. I can personally submit feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider this in one of the upcoming updates.
At this time, we don't support any QuickBooks Desktop accounts that are three years older than the current year. I recommend updating to one of the latest releases that's available for you (2018,2019,2020). This will allow you to get the support you need to receive the best outcome of the product.
Here's how:
1. Open QuickBooks.
2. Go to Help.
3. Click Update QuickBooks Desktop.
4. In the "Overview" section, select Update Now. Note: This may take a few moments.
It's easy as pie!
Below are links that have more details about each update and what it offers.
You can learn more about updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release by looking into this link.

Thanks for the reply.
Is this functionality available in the 2018, 2019 and 2020 releases?
Thanks for providing an update to the thread, @2robertc.
The ability to collapse the details of Journal Entries using built-in reports in QuickBooks Desktop isn't available at the moment. I recommend checking out the Contributed Tab in the Report Center of QuickBooks Desktop to see if someone has contributed a report that would suit your needs. It's super easy to access. Check it out:
That's it! Please reach out if there's anything else I can do to help, I'm determined to be your number one resource for QuickBooks Desktop. Have a good one!
