Four (!) phone calls and one hour (!) later I still do not have an answer to my simple question: How do I create a PDF of an invoice? Very simple. Your reps made is so, so overly complicated and kept tell me, for example, "Click here and here, and now attach the PDF to the link." Excuse me, but what PDF? I don't have the PDF to attach. THAT'S what I am trying to create. Again and again and again. Sigh.
Hi @mpedersen,
I know that this is not the kind of experience you expect us to deliver. With that, let me share some steps on how you can create a PDF file of an invoice.
You can create a PDF copy of your invoice through the Sales Center. Here’s how:
Also, you can create a PDF copy by opening the actual invoice.
I'm adding this article for your reference: How to email or print an invoice.
Also, you can check our page about customizing your invoice emails for future help.
If you have additional questions or concerns, I will be here to assist you. Have a great day!
Wrong and wrong again. The "Select Print DOES NOT open a new tab to generate a PDF copy of the invoice." Also, there is NO download icon for the system to generate a PDF copy of the invoice (see attached).
NEITHER of these exists -- at least not on the licensed version I am using. Not there. Trust me. I searched and searched and search. Nothing. Nada. Would have been too easy. This is what I tried and tried to explain to your FOUR reps over the course of an HOUR and they rambled on about opportunitites to export into Excel and create custom invoices and yada yada.
ALL I needed to do was create a PDF of an invoice. Apparently I can send the link to myself and then download the attachment as a PDF.
Hi there, mpedersen.
I appreciate the time and effort you've spent with our phone support agents. I'll personally share your feedback with our Customer Support Team regarding this one. We'll be able to take action on improving our customer service
There are times when a browser's cache data becomes full of frequently-accessed page resources or damaged. When this happens, pages like opening a new tab to generate a PDF copy of the invoice don't load properly. To better isolate if this is a browser issue or not, let's access QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a private or incognito window.
Then, try clicking the Print button again to open a new tab to generate a PDF copy of the transaction.
If it works, go back to your original browser and clear the browser's cache to delete the temporary Internet files. You can also use other supported, up-to-date browsers to be thorough.
If the same thing happens, let's clear Intuit-specific cookies to refresh the website preferences. Just follow the steps and details in this article: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online. Then, go to Step 2: Clear Intuit-specific cookies from your browser section.
If the problem persists, try checking if this printing issue is caused by your Adobe Reader. We can update your Adobe Reader/Acrobat to the latest version or repair the Adobe installation.
For more details about this one, you can check out this article: How to update, repair, or re-install Adobe Reader/Acrobat.
You can also refer to this article if you're using another type of PDF reader to troubleshoot the issue: Why am I unable to print with a PDF service other than Adobe?.
I'm just one post away if you need a hand with creating recurring transactions or any QBO related. I'll be here to help.
