How do I stay signed in on QuickBooks Online? Stay signed in is checked.

I have re-installed the App, but still am being required to sign in every time I open the App even though stay signed in is checked.

I appreciate you for trying some steps to get this issue sorted out. Allow me to help share some information on how you can stay signed in to QuickBooks Online.

 

We haven't received any similar cases reported to us. To single this issue out, let's try resetting the app to refresh its data.

 

To do that:

  1. Select on Help.
  2. Choose Reset App Data.

Once done, make sure that the Stay Signed In feature us checked and try signing in again.

This should help you stay logged in to QuickBooks.

I'm also having this problem - "reset app data" seems to have no effect. I continually have to sign-in every time, regardless of whether the "stay signed in" checkbox is checked or not.

Since you've already performed the basic troubleshooting steps and none of them work, I recommend uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Doing this help resolves common data issues. 

 

You can download the application through this link: Download QBO app.

 

Then, sign in to your account and ensure to enable the Stay Signed In feature.

 

That should do it. Keep me updated on how this goes. I want to make sure everything you're all set with this concern.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately uninstalling and reinstalling didn't seem to fix the problem. As other posts have mentioned this started after the recent update to the software but worked fine prior to that. Thanks!

Since you're still prompted to sign in and enter your login information, even though the "stay signed in" checkbox is already checked, I recommend reaching out to our contact support.

 

Identifying the root cause of this requires tools like screen sharing, which can only be performed by our phone agents. In case, there are other customers experiencing the same issue, they can create a ticket for further investigation.

The update for Mac app version Version 4.0.5-214 (4.0.5-214.214) caused this bug.

 

The app will not keep the user signed and in and continuously prompts the user for their password, but it remembers the user name.

 

Please stop asking users to reset their app, and reinstall the app > just FIX THE BUG.

The update should be able to fix some issues within the QBO app. As mentioned and recommended in the previous answers, to keep your account logged in is by checking the Stay Signed In box. You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. It can also help to get this resolved.

I was thinking of reformatting my hard drive.  Do you think that will get this resolved?

Allow me to chime in, adamDFKC.

 

Have you tried updating the app? If you haven't, let's update the Windows application by following these steps:

 

Open the app and Run as Administrator.

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Select Check for Updates.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Yes I updated the app, and it did not point me in the right direction

 

What about reinstalling Windows, and then reinstalling the app?

With 4.0.5 update, this should have been fixed this very specific issue.

Seems like it's not fully solved yet.

Maybe someone should escalate this to your engineers.

It STARTED with the 4.0.5 update. Before that it was fine

I can help you report the QuickBooks Online application bug.

 

Creating an investigation ticket for QuickBooks App issue requires the affected user's information and some steps they've tried to resolve it. This data is necessary when filling out the INV form. That is also the reason why we recommend you call our phone support.

 

Our engineers can investigate more why you're still being asked to enter your login credentials after checking the Stay Signed In box. Once the investigation is available, you'll get a notification through emails if there are updates.

When I first started using QBO a couple of years ago it felt like a pre-release version of a new accounting software but I figured Intuit/Quickbooks is a big company, they'll get it right eventually. Any one of the problems I've had over the years is minor but when they start to stack up and don't get better for years, it really makes me want to find an alternative.

 

However, I feel slightly trapped with QBO because swapping accounting software right now feels like I'd be attempting open heart surgery on my business. I've got plenty of other things going on so I just deal with the bugs. My relationship with QBO is not a healthy one.

 

Since the most recent update this is what I get every morning when I sign in to my computer and attempt to go to the dashboard:

At this point nothing works so I hit refresh at the top of the window and it takes me to the log in screen. At the log in screen it takes 20-30 seconds for it to let me click in the password field. I'm not sure what it is thinking about during that time but I have to wait before I can type in my password.

 

I remember when I went from using QBO in the browser to using the QBO app for Windows. The tagline for the "download now" button was something like "use QBO faster and skip the log in with the Windows app." I notice the browser log in doesn't have that download button and tagline anymore.

You are describing a different problem to what the original question was about, which was that you had to enter your password every time you started the desktop app.  That was fixed last week.

You're right but it was that same update that made it to where I have to type in my password again anyway. The end result is that I end up typing in my password on a program that is meant to remember my password.

Until last week I had the problem.  On March 27, 2019  I was asked if I wanted to run an update. I said Yes, and since then no problem. Did you get asked about an update? You can click on Help> About to see if you have ver 4.0.6, or Check for Updates

  • Fixed a bug that could cause Stay Signed In to fail.

I did get the update and QBO reports that I am on 4.0.6.

 

BTW a quick way to view the version number is just to hit F2.

I didn't think there was any reason to since 4.0.6 is the most recent version.
