I am working through my banking transactions and when I go to "Find Match" it isn't pulling up the normal screen that lists all open receipts like it normally does. Why?

I am going through the exact same process I do every month. This has never been an issue. Even Gusto which is supposed to talk to QBO and create a JE, isn't showing the normal match. Does this have to do with the recent updates to the Banking page itself?

Hello there, chanscar,

The recent updates on the Banking page will provide a faster page response and load times. It could be a browser-related issue. You'll want to perform the recommended steps to help fix and isolate this behavior.

You can start by clearing the cache and cookies depending on your browser. Follow the linked steps for your browser:

After clearing the cache, make sure to restart your browser. If the same issue persists, you can clear Intuit-specific cookies. This helps refresh website preferences that might be causing issues when you click the Find match option. Thus, not showing the list of receipts.

Let me show you how:

Google Chrome

  1. Go to the Menu: button, then Settings.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Select Site settings under Privacy and Security.
  4. Click Cookies and site data.
  5. Select See all cookies and site data.
  6. Type “intuit” in the search bar to find Intuit cookies.
  7. Select Remove.
  8. Restart Google Chrome for the changes to take effect.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Go to the Open menu ≡, then Select Preferences ⚙.
  2. Click Privacy Security.
  3. Select Manage Data under Cookies and Site Data.
  4. Type “intuit” in the search bar, and select Enter to find Intuit cookies.
  5. Click Remove All.
  6. Select Save Changes.
  7. Restart Mozilla Firefox for the changes to take effect.

Safari

  1. Open Safari.
  2. Go to Safari beside the apple icon to the top left.
  3. Select Preferences, then Privacy.
  4. Choose Manage website data.
  5. Type “intuit” in the search bar to find Intuit cookies.
  6. Click Remove all, then select Remove now.
  7. Select Done.
  8. Restart Safari for the changes to take effect.

I've added the QuickBooks Online new features and improvements - June 2020 link to know the latest updates in the system.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your recommendations. I tried everything you listed above but the problem is still persisting :/

Hi chanscar.

While the update definitely optimized the performance of the product, it is possible that it changed the way you work through transactions. I'm attaching a helpful article that lists several reasons transactions may not be listed. as well as a work around I believe will be beneficial to you. Use the Find Match option to display all the possible matched transactions. To do that, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Banking and select the Banking tab.
  2. Click Find other records button.
  3. In the Match Transactions window, put a check mark on the transactions that should match to the downloaded transaction.
  4. If the transaction you want to match is outside the date range displayed, update it. Select the date field to manually change the From and To dates.
  5. Select Save if the total amount of both transactions is the same.
  6. Click Save.

Once done, the transactions will now show under the In QuickBooks tab.

If you have other questions or concerns, you can post them below. Thank you for your time and have a lovely afternoon.

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your response as well but none of these seem to be the case either. Every month we receive donations via Stripe and/or Paypal that feed into our bank as large batch deposits of $500+ consisting of 10-20 donations at a time. Generally I am able to immediately click on "Find Match" for those transactions and it would pull up the list of unmatched receipts and payments. Nothing as changed this month. The receipts pull in from Kindful and I see that they exist in QBO like they always have. I just am not able to get the extra window to open. QBO automatically tells me that it couldn't find a match.

Again, this has never been an issue in the past. The window has always opened for me - now sometimes it wouldn't display the transactions I needed and I would have to edit dates or make a bank deposit, but that was rare. All this to say, since nothing has changed, that's what makes me think something has changed on the back-end.

As an update. I just manually went through and created a bank deposit for a specific transaction and that isn't even being recognized as a match with the exact same amount and date and everything. Please help!

Hi there, @chanscar.

You can check on your register if the imported transactions are already added to QuickBooks and mark R or C in the column. If this is the case, this explains why transactions cannot be matched even if all the information is the same.

To check transactions, here's how:

  1. On the left navigation pane, go to Accounting then Chart of Accounts.
  2. Select your bank and click View register.
  3. You will now see all the transactions on that bank and check if the transactions were already added to QuickBooks.

If the transactions are not duplicated, clear and already reconciled, try excluding the downloaded transactions and do the manual import then try matching the transactions again.
