is there a way to run a report showing what day items were added to the "item list" in qb desktop?

Hi Morgan1991,

You can run the Inventory Valuation Detail report and verify the dates when the items were added by opening the transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Click Reports on the upper menu.
  2. Select Inventory.
  3. Choose the Inventory Valuation Detail.

Items will only show up on bills, expenses, and checks.

I'll also make sure to pass this along to our product team to let them know of your business needs.

You'll want to customize the available columns that you want to show in your report. Here's an article for your reference: Customize Reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please get back to this thread if you have additional questions. I'll always be right here to help.

I have a similar request.  We need to keep track of when we created, or last modified an item.   Without this we have no way of knowing how recent the pricing has been established with that item.  We could handle this by going through our complete list at intervals, but because of our supply chain, and the number of items this is not a clever way to approach this.

I've created a Custom Field in Item List to limp along, and it's working, but it would sure be nice to know if there is a report somewhere where we could see when an Item was created or modified.  This is a fairly straightforward feature in a lot of other database systems we work with.  I don't see anything in Reports that would support this requirement.

This has to be for non-inventory and inventory items both.

Thank you for posting, @bkwerner.

Currently, we can only track this in transactions using the Audit Trail report. It'd be also helpful if we can do this for non-inventory and inventory items.

I'll be sure to pass your suggestions to our Product Team. Letting us know what works best for you will show our developers what they need to consider in future product updates.

In the meantime, you can look into the following links below for other related sources about managing your items in QuickBooks.

Let me know if you have other questions or concerns. I'll be on standby if you need help. Have a good one.
