Memorized Reports - lack of features

I have a report format that I run off of the Quick Report format to give me the most info about customer transactions in a snapshot.  I've tried memorizing it, but it only freezes the info for that particular customer.  What do I have to do to freeze the FORMAT of the report (with the columns I want in the sequence I want) so that I can run it for ANY CUSTOMER I want and any date range needed?

This should be SIMPLE and intuitive, but yet, it's NOT.  The canned Quick Report just does NOT work for my needs, so I find myself having to customize it every single time I need one, which is a waste of time and keystrokes.  There HAS to be a better way & more options of performing such a simple function.

Does anyone know the hack for this?

Memorized Reports - lack of features

I appreciate the details that you've provided, EH in CT.

Allow me to share some steps that you can try to get this freezing behavior sorted out. There are several possible causes for this issue, such as:

  • Your company name is too long.
  • Damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file.
  • Corruption on your hard drive.
  • Damaged program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation.
  • Damaged Windows operating system.

Let me provide another troubleshooting step that may help fix this issue. You can start by running the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool (QBInstall Tool). This will help us identify any component issues related to your QuickBooks Desktop.

Here's how:

  1. Download the QuickBooks Install DiagnosticTool.
  2. When prompted, save the file to the local Desktop.
  3. 3. Close any open programs and run the QBInstall Tool.
  4. It may take up to 20mins to complete, depending on your internet speed and computer's performance.
  5. Restart the computer after running the tool to ensure the components are properly updated.

Please refer to this article to perform other solutions if the issue persists: QuickBooks Desktop won't open, has stopped working, or not responding.

While you can memorize a report in QuickBooks, there are still limitations when you customize it. I suggest you sending a request to our Product Team about the feature that you need on the report.

Here's how to send a request:

  1. Go to the Help menu.
  2. Select Send Feedback Online, then choose Product Suggestion.
  3. It opens the QuickBooks Feedback window.
  4. Fill in the form, then click Send Feedback.

Meanwhile, you can refer to this link to learn how to customize and save the data: Create, access and modify memorized reports.

Stay in touch with me if there's anything else I can help you with memorizing reports. I'll be right here whenever you have follow-up questions about it.

Memorized Reports - lack of features

Let me clarify.  My screen is not freezing.  The Memorize Report feature freezes the format and data for only that customer that you've pulled the report for.  What I'm saying is that the canned Quick Report format does not meet my needs, so EVERY time I run that report, I have to customize the fields and layouts to get the data I need, which is a huge waste of time.  I need the FORMAT frozen into a TEMPLATE, so that I can then run that format of the report any time I need it for any customer without having to change the fields every single time.  The data I want returned is the same columns every time, just for different customers.

I'll try the feedback form, but in general, that has never gotten me anywhere either.  It's just frustrating because I use QB daily and have to fight the program every time to display what I need.

Memorized Reports - lack of features

TEDIOUS process, but yes, that does work.  It should be just as simple as changing the date range, but it seems that is too straightforward to be implemented.  Thank you for explaining where it was hidden; extra steps, but should still save me a bit of time.
