How can Intuit justify a 17% price increase on QBO Plus. They say is for product improvements and developments. Are they going to change the cap on the number of accounts you can have? Give me something I can hang my hat on; not the useless items they call improvements. Where is the ability to build assemblies. Do they really know what the community wants?
They do not ever know or care what the community wants. It probably cost them that much to impose the class and account caps at 70 and 250 respectively. This is how they recover that cost.
I appreciate you getting back to us in the Community, @beneeley.

As a quickbooks plus user, I was billed $540 for the annual payment in March of 2018. Then... they raised prices - a big price raise. My March 2019 bill was $645. Now, today I get a notice that they are DOING IT AGAIN. This time, they're saying my bill is going up to $755.
I'm not at all happy with this. It's straight up price gouging. They haven't added so much to the system in the last 2 years that it's worth $200 more a year. Love Quickbooks, but certainly not at $755 a year for Quickbooks Plus.
That amount of price increase in that amount of time is so unacceptable.

This is ridiculous. I am sick and tired of these increases, and saying it is for enhancements to the software. I do not need the so called enhancements. I tell you they are increasing the price because the tax software part of the company is floundering. The moderators wont mention that.
I appreciate you for putting your voice out and providing feedback.

I appreciate your reply, but it just feels like a cut & paste lip service acknowledgement.
For small and medium businesses who are generating millions a year in sales, the cost of your services are not even worth mentioning. On the other hand, for the smaller businesses like mine, as well as freelancers and sole proprietors, these price increases really do hurt. Price increases are normal, and even expected sometimes, but no one wants to feel like they're being bent over a barrel.
For me, Quickbooks Plus has been great, and I enjoy using it. I've been happy to pay for it at $540 a year, still alright at $645, but $755 a year? Not sure about that. We shall see.... I have 10 months before my next renewal to figure it out. Zoho Books and especially the revamped Freshbooks seem very compelling. The very top end of each of those services have some pretty sweet features and won't cost as much as QBO Plus. It's just due diligence to evaluate all this before paying up to continue using QBO Plus in 2020, when there will probably some sort of new price increase, if the trend of the last 3 years continues.
I see some comments on a 17% price increase but mine is a WHOPPING 74%!!!! I paid $433 in December of 2018 and now it will be $755?!?!?! I can't think of any other business or industry that could get away with an increase like that.
Any alternatives? I need VERY basic functionality. I'm a small women-owned business with just 2 employees.

I appreciate you for voicing out your feedback. To ensure we can continue to provide exceptional service, price increases are tied to product enhancements, future product development, and not to a calendar schedule.

Instead of just making enhancements at any cost, you should consider what your customers want. You shouldn’t enhance just to enhance if that’s not what we need.
The gigantic price increase was enough to make me consider looking for solutions but, honestly, all the replies I’ve seen are making me DEFINITELY plan to look for alternatives. I don’t hear any care/concern for your customers needs in these responses or any indication that you will get customer Input in the future. Seems that you will keep “enhancing” and delivering price increases.
Hello there, key2Bme.
Your thoughts and feedback about the QuickBooks price increase are being noted. The features added in QuickBooks are made after much deliberation from our product developers for the benefit of our customers. It is always our aim to develop relevant features that came from customer's feedback.
For now, you can have these resources to learn more about QuickBooks Online features and functions:
I'm just a post away, so please don't hesitate to reach back to me if you have further questions about this.
When I started 6 years ago the price was $25/mo. and it eventually rose to $60/mo. a year or two ago. Now they are forcing me to join the advanced plan simply due to the number of classes/properties I have in the database. The new advanced plan is $150/mo. This is about a 600% increase in 6 years. I don't need half the features they've added. Received a message yesterday that I MUST upgrade to send out an invoice to an existing client using a new Property (field). They are holding my business hostage. Actually, it's businesses as I have two online accounts with them. This is nothing other than price gouging.
I called today to try to see if there is a feasible workaround or price reduction and they just kept repeating the same line over and over again that I should speak with my accountant and reorganize everything in the system to no longer use more than 40 classes/properties. With this change though my reporting functionality would be lost.
They know how much of a nightmare changing accounting software is and are simply capitalizing on that.
I appreciate you for expressing your sentiments about the price increase. Rest assured, you’ll experience the best service while using QuickBooks Online.
It's not mandatory to upgrade your plan to QBO Advanced. If you've reached the Chart of Account, class and user limits for QBO Plus, you could inactivate them since these will not count.
Let me share with you some more advantages and add-on services when subscribing to QBO Advanced:

I have a very small business with very little bookkeeping, but it's structured as two companies and so l I need 2 subscriptions to QBO, one for the US and one for Canada. I would not recommend QBO to anyone. There are lots of newer bookkeeping software companies doing interesting things. Two months notice for a price increase is unethical since it would take longer than that to switch. Perhaps they are not optimistic about the future of their service, and are trying to extract as much revenue as they can before they lose more business to competitors.
Agreed! Every month seems to be some different issue with their pricing. I feel like in the short year I have been in business I have had a handful of price increases on me which cuts heavily into my profit. I make next to nothing on these subscriptions and now am losing money because I cannot justify passing on these price increases so often. I'd lose customers. This is poor business on QB part and I will certainly be testing out other products. Its embarrassing to recommend a product to customers and then have to turn around month after month and say "Hey QBO raised their prices again". I can't do it. It's frustrating as all get out!
This price increase amounts to extortion. I will be looking for an alternative to Quickbooks for my small business accounting and invoicing. I hope those who have made such a greedy decision will pay the price in a heavy reduction of customers. Any suggestions for alternatives?
Thanks for joining the conversation, @Scottledanse,

I appreciate your response as generic as it is. I have heard the same response over and over. Yes, we as customers like innovation and appreciate QuickBooks' team continually working on improvements, but let’s be real that is their job and what they get paid to do; If they are not working on developing new software then they would just be sitting there twiddling their thumbs. I feel like I have already paid my portion for what I have purchased and need. These recent improvements you are charging me for are items that I did not request nor do I need, but I will still have to pay for those items that other want to use, so be it. I can be a team player. For the last 2 years I have received a $10.00 a month increase. So, I should expect at least a $120.00 increase every year because you are making a better product, but I am still using only the product as I purchased it from day one. I am not saying I am speaking for other business owners, but I think it is safe to assume that 95% of the customers using Quickbooks are not happy with the increases. So next time you want to consider raising the price I think you should think long and hard, I don’t think it would be cost effective to have customers jump ship. Then you will have a new product, with no one who will be utilizing it. Make no mistake if anyone asks about Quickbooks, my first response will be, it is good software, but all they do is raise the price on you every year. So, I would look into other options. You say you save business owners $3500 a year, but that is now down to $3260 and decreasing each year, so I think you should change your information. I have kept my mouth shut, but I am no longer willing to do that. I am sick and tired of the small business owner being hurt by corporate greed.
