Not allowing more entries for a particular job

Hello,

We currently have multiple jobs for the same customer, so we create sub jobs under a parent job.  The problem is that sometimes an employee uses the wrong job name since they are so similar, so instead of using the correct job to enter a bill for example, it uses the parent job, and this causes a problem with our job analysis report. Is there any way we can block a job once it is done, so no more entries such bills/payments/ etc can be done using the job name?

Thanks,

Karilyn

Thank you for adding a post, @ScottSim.

Yes, you can make the job inactive once you no longer need it. This way, the name will never show up when recording transactions. I can guide you on how.

  1. Open your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), then go to the Customers menu.
  2. Tap on Customer Center.
  3. Locate the job name you want to block under the Customer & Jobs section.
  4. Right-click, then select Make Customer:Job Inactive.
  5. Hit Yes to confirm the action.

Once done, the name will now be excluded as a suggested result when creating transactions.
