Every time I open the "Open Invoices" report Quickbooks 2018 is crashing. It offers to send a report to Intuit.
In order to determine if my Quickbooks data file could be the issue, I started a Sample company provided by the software. Same issue occurs (see provided snapshot).
How to reproduce: While in Quickbooks press ALT-R-C-O
Please assist. Thank you for all responses.
I'm here to assist you, Bitpusher10101010.
The most common reason why you encounter an unrecoverable error is damaged data or computer issues. Since you've bumped into the error after opening a report, we are investigating this. In the meantime, here's how you can get around the error:
Although, if you're still encountering the same issue after running as admin, check this reference on how to fix unrecoverable errors in QuickBooks Desktop.
You can get back to this thread. We're available 24/7 to help you. Take care!
Thank you Kristine, however, the issue persists. I installed the "Quickbooks Tools Hub" and went through that too.
Will I be notified if a fix comes in?
Again, this is happening on the Intuit provided sample file, so, I doubt it is related to data corruption.
Good morning, @bitpusher10101010.
Thanks for following up with us.
First off, excellent job opening a sample file to test if this is a data-related issue. By the way, you're correct with your thinking. Most of the time, it won't show signs of data damage when it happens in a sample file and your company file. Typically when this shows in a sample file, we know that it's more of an application issue.
With that being said, I have another solution to offer. Let's suppress your QuickBooks application. I've included the steps below to do this.
1. Shut down QuickBooks properly (File, Close company, File, then Exit).
2. Press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard. While continuing to hold, double-click the QuickBooks application. Please note: Do not release the key until QuickBooks is fully opened, and you see the home screen to choose a company file open.
3. Open your company file.
4. Enter your login credentials.
5. Before hitting the Login button, press and hold the Alt key. Once the key is held, hit Log in. Please continue to hold until you can hover the mouse over the menu options at the top, ensuring they're highlighted green.
6. Once the file is fully opened, release the key. Now try re-running your report.
That's all there is to it. Check out Unrecoverable error: General troubleshooting steps for more details.
Let me know if you have additional questions or concerns. I'll be here every step of the way. You can reach out to the Community at any time. Take care and enjoy the day ahead!

Ok. Now I'm really stressed out. After doing all that I did today to attempt to repair Quickbooks, now I can't even use the Register of my checking and credit card accounts within Quickbooks. Yikes... what do I do now?!?!?!?
When attempting to open the register there is no error or warning. The program simply refuses to do anything when clicking on the account (View Balances tool bar). I also tried looking at all accounts (CTRL-A) then right mouse context menu "Use Register". Both do absolutely nothing. The register does not come up!
Very frustrating.
Please help.
Please know that helping you is our top priority, @bitpusher10101010.
There's an ongoing issue when opening Account Registers in QuickBooks. Our Product engineering team is already aware of this and is now working for a fix.

I spoke with Rayran and Cherry Ann today. Neither of them could help. Actually, their suggestions were similar and both chats ended with both QB and the chat crashing and closing. Still can't open reports.
I'm having the same trouble. The same suggestions you tried fail also. I've talked with Cherry Ann and Rayran both offered similar instructions that crashed the chat and shut down QB. This is not an isolated incident that is unique to our computers.
Hi there, Its Magic.
As my colleague mentioned above, our engineers are still looking into this issue.
At this time, I recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team, so you'll be added as one of the affected users.
You can contact them by going to the Help menu and then clicking Contact Us.
We appreciate your patience while we're working to fix this issue. Stay safe!
I'm a QuickBooks ProAdvisor and also a RoboForm (password management app) user. There's a conflict with a recent 08/28 RoboForm update which has caused the very same corruption in all of my register accounts. If you use RoboForm for password management, please see my posts, as well as Douglas_Wardle, on the following thread:
Account registers do not open in Quickbooks Pro.
Once I rolled back to the RoboForm 8.9.0 version, total functionality in all my client QB files returned. If you don't have RoboForm installed, you'll need to launch QB with elevated admin credentials to bypass this application corruption.
On 09/10, I also opened a support ticket on the RoboForm site, and they began working on a corrective fix immediately. Intuit has been messing around with this issue for over two weeks now.
Hope you see restoration in your QB application soon.
