Profit and Loss Report

It's nice to see you back in the Community, @gypsycooks3.

I'm here to help get you back to business by customizing your Profit and Loss report.

You can customize any report that's in QuickBooks Online. With this feature, you'll be able to block certain accounts from displaying on the report.

Here's how:

1. Go to Reports.

2. Locate and click on the Profit and Loss report.

3. Select Customize.

4. Choose the Filter section.

5. Press drop-down box beside Distribution Account.

6. Pick the accounts you would like to include in the report. Note: Make sure you checkmark the accounts.

7. Hit Run Report.

Here's a picture of my results:

Note: If you want to save this customized report, then press Save Customization beside of Customize.

This is a link that can tell you more about customizing a report.

I'm only a post away if you need me. Have a great evening!

Profit and Loss Report

Can you help? I want to remove some old expense accounts which were carried over when I updated. These Expense accounts do not appear on my Chart of Accounts.

Profit and Loss Report

I'm here to give you some insights about removing an account, @ta43.

In QuickBooks, you won't be able to remove an account but we can make it inactive. If an inactive account has transactions for the reporting period, it will always show in reports. However, if the inactive account has a zero balance, some reports will allow you to exclude zero balance accounts.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports.
  2. Enter the name of the report in the Find report by name field.
  3. Click on the Customize button.
  4. Select a reporting period.
  5. In the Show non-zero or active only drop-down button, select the Non-zero option.
  6. Click Run Report.

The screenshots below show you the last four steps.
