Quick fix for GL numbers on reports not in order anymore ( QB mac desktop)

Each time my QB has an error and needs to re-start my sort order for different items is affected. Anyone have a quick fix so my GL numbers will be from lowest to highest on my  P and L reports again?

Thank you

Aside from sorting the affected items, you can run the verify/rebuild tool, P237. This fixes a corrupted file.

I'll walk you through the steps:

  1. Click File.
  2. Go to Utilities, then select Verify Data.
  3. If QuickBooks detected no problems, there's no further action needed. If you receive a message, "Your data has lost integrity", the file is damaged. Just continue to Rebuild Data to correct the problem.
  4. When you Rebuild Data, you'll receive a message to back up your company file, just click OK. The utility starts as soon as the back up is finished.
  5. Click OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".
  6. Run Verify Data again to check for remaining data damage.

Once done, check the Profit and Loss report.

I'll share the reference on how you can resolve data damage on your company file for better guidance.

Fixed by going to the Chart of Accounts, then clicking " Enable Custom Ordering" then putting the numbers in order on the chart per "Type". I checked my reports and after doing this everything is in order now.
