Recently, invoices aren't attached to emails from QB. The receipts I attach are, but there is no invoice attached to the email. Is this an intentional change from QB?

Thank you for getting back to us, @bbrpermitting.

Let's check the settings to make sure that all your invoices are attached to your emails when sending from QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The online delivery setting is available to all versions of QuickBooks Online (Simple Start, Essentials and Plus). You can try to check for the Online delivery section under the Sales tab from your Account and Settings. I'll attach screenshots below:

  1. From the Gear icon, select Account and settings
  2. Click the Sales menu and click the pencil icon beside Online delivery
  3. Click the checkbox for PDF attached.
  4. Select on Save and then DonePDF attached.JPG

To know more about this functionality, check this article: Automate invoice reminders in QuickBooks Online

For more details about the different file types that you can attach to any transactions in QBO, see the following links below:

Let me know if there's anything else that you need about this or with QuickBooks. I'd be happy to help. Have a good one!

Good Afternoon, @bbrpermitting

It's great to see a new face here in the Community. Let's double-check some of your settings in your QuickBooks Online (QBO) to help resolve this problem with your invoices not attaching to your emails.

The online delivery settings will determine how you're able to see the invoice within the email that's sent to your customer.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear (Settings) icon.
  2. Pick the Account and Settings option under the "Your Company" column.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. Scroll down and locate the 'Online Delivery" section.
  5. Ensure that the PDF attached box is checked.

If the issue persists, please provide me with some additional insight on this matter. For future reference, this is a link to help you send invoices to your customers and receive payments

These steps should do the trick to ensure that your settings are correct so that your customer is able to see the invoice from the email. Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to ask. I'll always be around to help. Bye for now!

Hi Candace!

Thank you for your reply.  I followed the instructions you provided however there is no "Online Delivery" under the Advanced Tab.  Maybe my version of QB is different?

The problem I am having is intermittent.  Some invoice emails have an invoice attached and some do not.  The body of the email tells the specific information but there is not an invoice PDF attached.

I am having the same problem but, because I have QB's Desktop Pro Plus 2024 I cannot follow the steps provided.  I don't have a gear icon and cannot access a Sales Menu.

Thanks for joining the thread, Geopc. Let's work together to find a solution that suits your version and ensures you can effectively manage your invoices.

To address your issue with invoices not consistently attaching to emails in QuickBooks Desktop, follow these troubleshooting steps:

Check Your Email Preferences

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Edit menu and select Preferences.
  3. Click on Send Forms.
  4. Under the My Preferences tab, ensure that your email account is correctly set up. If you are using Microsoft Outlook, make sure it is selected as your email option.
  5. Click OK to save any changes.

Verify PDF Attachment Settings

  1. Navigate to the Lists menu and select Templates.
  2. Find the invoice template you are using and click on Edit.
  3. Ensure that the option to attach the invoice as a PDF is enabled. This is usually found under the Print or Email settings within the template options.
  4. Save your changes.

After making these adjustments, create a test invoice and send it to your email address. When sending an invoice, double-check that the "Attach PDF" option is selected in the email window.

Furthermore, ensure that your QuickBooks Desktop is updated to the latest version, as updates often fix bugs related to emailing functionalities.

Additionally, I’d like to provide you with some helpful resources that will assist you in accurately tracking payments received and in customizing your invoice templates to ensure they reflect your desired style and include all necessary information:
