Report for transactions to a particular vendor for a particular job

I need a report which shows me the transactions for a particular vendor for a particular job/customer.

It sounds simple, but I'm struggling with it. Example: my transactions with Joe's Plumbing on the Smith job.

Re: Report for transactions to a particular vendor for a particular job

Thank you. This helps.

I had wanted a report which can get me, for example, all my transactions with Joe's Plumbing on the Smith job

Your way gives me a report which shows all of my costs by all of my vendors, with each vendor's costs broken down by customer/job. I can scroll through it until i find the particular information i want. Which is OK.

I can also simplify it by filtering by the Smith job - customize report/filters/name/Smith.

This gets me all vendor transactions for the Smith job organized by vendor. Then I scroll through until I find Joe's Plumbing's transactions.

I can make do with this, but it would be great to be able to pretty it up even more by filtering for "Joe's Plumbing".

Is it possible to do this?

Hello bythesea2,

Welcome to the Community. I can help you find the vendor report you need in QuickBooks Desktop.

The Job Costs by Vendor and Job Detail report will show you the vendor transactions and particular job/customer link to it.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Reports tab at the top menu bar.
  2. Click Report Center.
  3. In the search bar, type-in Job Costs by Vendor and Job Detail and press Enter.
  4. Click the Run option below the report.

Re: Report for transactions to a particular vendor for a particular job

Hi there, @bythesea2,

I appreciate you for taking the time to filter the Job Costs by Vendor and Job Detail report to show the information you need.

Right now, there isn't an option to filter the report to a specific vendor. I suggest exporting the report to an Excel, then manually remove other vendors from there. Here's how:

  1. From the report, click Excel.
  2. Select Create New Worksheet or Update Existing Worksheet.
  3. Select Advanced if you want to set how you want the Excel report to be formatted.
  4. Click Export then you're ready.

You can also refer to this article to help you track how much money you spend and make for each job: Tracking job costs in QuickBooks Desktop.

Keep me posted if there's anything else you need with job reports and I'll get back to you.
