Report preferences

Each time I start QB 2019 I need to set Reporting preferences to Cash. As soon as I exit the program the preference reverts to Accrual. This happens also when I close one company and open another. In addition, the formatting preferences I make are not remembered from report to report even when I check the box saying they should apply to all reports. These issues are unexpected and new for me with this new version.

Report preferences

Hi there, @drkmkilgore.

Thanks for reaching out to us about the report preferences for QuickBooks Mac 2019.

Most likely your QuickBooks is set to Accrual and reverts when you exit the program or open another company. Let's work together to change the report's default reference to Cash.

  1. Click the QuickBooks tab.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Select Reporting.
  4. Choose the General tab.
  5. Set your Summary Reports Basis to Cash.

That should set the report's accounting basis to cash, @drkmkilgore.

I'm still here to help you more if you have additional questions about reports. Just leave a comment below by clicking the "Reply" button. Have a wonderful day ahead!

Report preferences

I have done your recommended solution multiple times. I am annoyed with having to do it each time I open the program. Other preferences seem to stick. This specific one does not.

Thanks for getting back to me and providing the results, drkmkilgore.

I'm here to ensure that the unusual reporting preference issue you have gets resolved. We can try running the Verify and Rebuild tool. This helps fixes common data issues in QuickBooks to avoid reports and preferences problems.

But before that, make sure to comply with the system requirements for QuickBooks Mac to avoid system interruption and issues while using the product.

  1. Click File.
  2. Choose Utilities.
  3. Select Verify Data.

If errors are found, you'll need to proceed to rebuilding the data:

  1. Click File .
  2. Choose Utilities.
  3. Select Rebuild Data.
  4. Click OK if you receive a prompt to back up your company file.
  5. Click OK when you get the message, Rebuild has completed and proceed to the next step.
  6. Run Verify Data again to make sure there's no error.

Please give this a try, @drkmkilgore.

If you encounter the same issue, I recommend getting in touch with our phone agents. They can utilize more tools, such as screen sharing, to investigate this further.

  1. Click this link:
  2. Select QuickBooks Mac Desktop.
  3. Type-in Technical Support on the search bar.
  4. Click Get the Phone number below.

Please add a comment below on how it goes, drkmkilgore. I want to ensure that this is fixed. Have a good one.
