Retrieving information from PRO2008

I used my QB Pro2008 to store company 2004 to 2017 information. Discovered Intuit disallowed any use of the program last fall. How can I retrieve the info from the ---.qbw file?

Retrieving information from PRO2008

Hello there, @Went.

Thanks for joining us here in the Community today. I can guide you on how to retrieve your information from QuickBooks 2008.

If you've created a back up for your company file before, you restore a backup company file by using the Restore Backup For Earlier QuickBooks Version utility instead of the standard Restore command.

To do that:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Select on Utilities.
  3. Click on Restore Backup For Earlier QuickBooks Version.
  4. Select the (...) button next to the Backup filename field.
  5. Choose the backup company file, then select Open.
  6. Select the (...) button next to the Restored filename field.
  7. From the Save in the drop-down, select the folder where you want to save the restored company file.
  8. In the File name field, enter a unique name for the restored file to avoid overwriting an existing company file, then select Save.
  9. Select OK.

To get more information about this process, please refer to this article: Restore a backup company file.

This amount of information should help you retrieve your QuickBooks 2008 company file, @Went.

Feel free to reach back out to me if you have any other questions about this concern. Have a great day!

Retrieving information from PRO2008

"Discovered Intuit disallowed any use of the program last fall."

QB 2008 reached end of life in May 2011. Intuit has a 3-year lifecycle. Plus the program undergoes major revisions, such as happened in QB 2007, 2013, etc. That's why it helps to keep updated with the program. And your file can be updated in Interim jumps, or ask Intuit to update it for you, when you buy QB 2019. Also Microsoft makes only QB 2016 and later compliant with W10 at this point in time.
