The tool only applies simplified reduction method on Home office Tax calculation. How to choose regular method to deduct Home office expenses?

Hi skylookers,

 

QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) only uses the simplified method for calculating estimated payments, insights and reports to keeping track of both in a product. On the other hand, Turbo Tax or your tax pro will help you claim the correct percentage and deductions at annual tax time. You can select its size on the Annual Taxes page if you're eligible for home office deduction. Here's how:

  1. Click Taxes > Annual Taxes in the navigation menu.
  2. Click to open the Home Office section.
  3. Select the office size that most closely matches the square footage of your home office.

You'll also want to categorize expenses for your home into our special office categories. This ensures that you'll have the totals needed for Turbo Tax or your tax pro so they can help you choose the biggest deduction.
