Unsolicited access to advance

This latest marketing scheme for your Advanced level shows a clear lack of respect for a customer's time and operation.  If you, QBO Marketing Mangers,  want to market an upgrade you should have created a link to a dummy site / sandbox and NOT interfere with a customer's normal operation just to force a marketing trial!   The idea that your customers can't opt out of a trial demo with a clear "I am Not Interested" button is exactly the kind of marketing scheme that will destroy your reputation. Cloud Computing does not mean you guys have a free license to force download marketing promotions on your client's working daily operational systems without paying a price in customer satisfaction and loyalty.  USE A DEMO LINK TO A SANDBOX NEXT TIME AND DO ALL YOUR MARKETING THERE WITHOUT INTERFERING WITH OUR DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS!

Couple of things im really unhappy about here.

First, if you want to offer an upgrade trial, that's fine... But you d*** well better make it a CHOICE for the paying customer.  For starters, we all pay you guys through an agreement for the current package we are using and you guys are in Breach of contract when you charge for an agreement which has not been made, no matter if it's discounted or not.  I have reviewed my monthly charges and it shows that I have agreed to and am paying for this upgrade and you guys are being so "kind" to discount it back to me at my normal rate.  I HAVE NEVER AGREED TO THE UPGRADE TO ADVANCED, so you sure as heck should not be reflecting that in my billing statement as something I have agreed to and am currently in a discounted mode for.  That's simply illegal and you guys are flirting with a class action lawsuit by playing that game.

Secondly, if this problem doesn't self correct at the end of the trial and you guys take it upon yourself to simply upgrade the account without my approval or ability to opt out, I can guarantee you I will be taking legal action.   The idea that I am somehow responsible for canceling something that I haven't agreed to is laughable and you guys need to stop giving us advice on how to cancel and make sure it cancels itself upon trial completion.  You also should be working on an immediate option to remove the trial altogether without the games.

Unsolicited access to advance

Greetings, @Greenfxllc.

I just wanted to hop in and provide a little clarification on the matter of the QuickBooks Online Advanced Trial. As mentioned earlier in the thread, the companies included in the Trial will not be upgraded to QBO Advanced unless they explicitly choose to do so. The Trial serves as an awesome opportunity, 100% free of charge, to test out the newest version and all the features it offers.

As soon as the Trial expires, as long as the company did not manually select to Upgrade, they'll be returned to their previous version with no changes to their Billing and Subscription. The agreement you're viewing is likely the standard one found in our regular, recurring QBO Advanced subscription, and does not apply to your business unless you've selected to upgrade. Should you wish to take no part in the Trial experience, you can opt out at any time with the instructions provided earlier in the thread or at this link.

Please keep in touch with me here should you have any additional questions or concerns, I'm determined to be your number one resource for QuickBooks. Thank you as always, cheers to a safe and productive week ahead.

Quickbooks is known for in app advertisements, which we all find annoying but tolerate as the price of admission. This was different in that the banner would not go away unless you went thru the process to manually downgrade. A simple "No Thanks" button would have been nice.

As you can tell from the comments in this conversation, the majority of your users do not consider this an "awesome opportunity".  Regarding the end of the trial - my trial period ended last week.  I only saw two buttons to click: One to upgrade (no thank you) and another - I can't remember what it said, but it was not a clear "Return to current subscription".  I chose that second button and was INCREDIBLY  disappointed that Intuit extended my trial period for another 6 days so I had "more time to consider my decision"!  Not happy at all.  Intuit is taking complete advantage of its captive audience.

"...awesome opportunity..."  Just another example of Intuit's tone-deaf attitude. We're accountants and business people, but you talk to us like we're Gen Y'ers  on Instagram and Snapchat. Awesome, really?

The point that you aren't getting (and should be apologizing for) is that we were never given an option of whether we wanted this "awesome opportunity". Intuit enrolled us against our will--we only had two choices: sign up for Advanced, or sign up for the trial--there was no option to opt out. I don't care if you think it's awesome--changing our application without permission is simply wrong on multiple levels. Shame on you guys--be professional!

Thank goodness for this help. I have been (not) patiently waiting out the 30 days of having the "unlock today" gone from the top of my screen. So day 30 comes and there's no option for just saying no, I don't want to upgrade. You can only choose maybe later. So now I am stuck with it for another however long! Nevermind the fact that my subscription level has not changed in 5 years and the price has doubled in that amount of time, including $20/month higher just in the past year, but the constant advertising all over the product is ridiculous. If you have to now pay $70/month for something you should not be subjected to advertisements all over the software.

So much for the offer expiring and things rolling back automatically.  As I mentioned in another post - At the end of our initial trial period, I had two options to choose from: "Upgrade" or "Need more time".  Since there was no clear "NO THANK YOU", I chose "Need more time".  My unwanted trial continues.

Here is a glimpse at our most recent charge to our account.  This invoice gives the impression that I am on the Advanced subscription at a discounted rate - NOT a trial.  I will be following up to do the downgrade after all, which is a waste of my time and gives me concerns about the integrity of my data after the transition.

We would hope that all of our negative feedback would result in a reevaluation of your tactics for this product roll-out, but it seems the almighty dollar wins again.

Frustrating!    I wanted to let you know that I was able to downgrade after a few attempts through the method described previously.  Here is a snipet of the method from https://www.firmofthefuture.com/content/update-on-the-quickbooks-online-advanced-free-upgrade-period...

  1. Log into QuickBooks Online.
  2. Go to https://qbo.intuit.com/app/changeplan. The Change my plan page shows your current plan, and other available plans to downgrade to.
  3. Under the new plan you want, select Choose plan. This lets you review all items that will be impacted by the downgrade.

Best of luck with this.

Curious, did your invoices recently start coming in labeled as "Tax Invoice".    Ours has, as well as some others who have posted on the QB community.   Every reply is call and ask for help.  No one knows why the sudden change.  Another QB frustration.   Who has the time to wait on hold!

The 'price of admission' should not be ads to upgrade. It's not like QB is free, this is a paid monthly service.

The downgrade instructions listed in this thread did not work. Instead, there was a pop-up that gave me instructions to call them in order to do the downgrade.  The rep I spoke to confirmed that by choosing "Maybe Later" or "Need More Time" my billing subscription was indeed upgraded, and that if I did not go through the downgrade process, my card would be billed at the new rate after the additional 60 day trial.  Wow.  Just wow.

If you don't want to call and have someone try to convince you to go ahead with upgrading to this new Advanced Subscription, here are the steps I was told to follow:

Go to your dashboard from within QBOnline.  You'll see that the URL address ends in: qbo.intuit.com/app/homepage

Change "homepage" to be "changeplan" and then hit Enter

From here, choose the plan you previously had and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Good luck to you all in getting back to business as usual!

QBO aficionados.   It is just amazing online right now.  The companies (not as good as you, normally), are being inundated by folks trying to find a QB alternative.  YOU are driving your customers away by forcing us to accept something that is ridiculous.  We do not have a mega customer base, and you 1% you are demanding for what should be a voluntary issue and is a blatant force of the big business.  First, we have to accept???

something we do not want...then we have to go and "Downgrade"  to what has been working fine for quite a few years because you are causing us to panic.  Please leave our earned money to us.  Show us you can trust you again.

My problem is a little different but very much along the theme of UNWANTED.  I have been using QB for 25 years now, mostly DT Pro, but for past 2 yr QBO also.  I have always liked the product but have detested the arrogant analphiles that the QB marketing and management have become.  Specifically the financial splash screens that I neither want nor can use and CAN NOT turn off.  I don't mind QB trying to market their product, but I deeply resent their not allowing me to turn it off.  I resent it so much that when the day comes that a similar competitive product comes along with some staying power, I will jump ship in a heartbeat!

Hey there, @bmcc

Thanks for following the thread and sharing your concerns with us.

I understand how frustrating it can be when you have continuous pop-ups while you're trying to work in both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online. I wanted to go over some steps to help turn them off.

In QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Open your Preferences
  2. Go to the General tab on the left-hand pane.
  3. Check off Turn off pop-up messages for products and services
  4. Hit OK to save your changes.

As of now, the only way to close those pop-ups is by clicking the X or No, thanks button in QuickBooks Online. Rest assured, I'll pass along this feedback to our product developers so they'll consider removing the pop-ups in the future.

In the meantime, I recommend checking our QuickBooks Blog page to know the latest news and updates in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. Take care and enjoy the weekend ahead. You certainly deserve it!
