Reconciled and cleared deposits still showing in reconciliation screen

I'm still using QB 2016...I reconcile my checking account with no discrepancies each month; however, some already cleared deposits are still showing up in my reconciliation screen.  I try to manually clear then in the register but nothing works.  Any help?

Reconciled and cleared deposits still showing in reconciliation screen

Hello mpcapemay,

Nice to see you in the QuickBooks Community! When things like discrepancies issues arise within QuickBooks, we always recommend using the Verify and Rebuild tool. These tools identify discrepancies in data and self resolve the majority of them. First, we would need to verify the data.

  1. Close all applications except for QuickBooks.
  2.  Go to File, then Utilities, and choose Verify Data. If you see:
    • "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data" -there is no need to continue because there isn't any problem with your data.
    • "Your data has lost integrity,"-there are some data damages, and follow the on-screen instructions to rebuild it.

To Rebuild the file as well, you can find it following the steps above but choose Rebuild Data instead. They will notify you about doing a backup and select OK to continue the process. Depending on your company file size, it could take a couple of minutes. Once you get the message "Rebuild is complete," go ahead and run the verify tool to check any remaining damages.

This article is very handy for more information on verifying and rebuilding data in QuickBooks Desktop. Please let me know after the Verify and Rebuild if you still have issues reconciling! If so, we will find another way to address this matter. I will be on the lookout for your reply. I hope you are having a good day thus far!

I just did the "verify data" procedure and there were no problems detected with my data.  I also tried to manually clear the deposit item in the register which it allowed me to do but when I opened the register again, the item was unchecked and not cleared.  It continues to show up in the reconciliation screen.

Thanks for trying the steps shared by my peer, @mpcapemay

We can do the manual reconciliation using the company sample file in QuickBooks Desktop to know if your company file is damaged.

Here's how to get a sample file:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Select Close Company.
  3. Hit the open a sample file drop-down arrow, then pick a file.

However, if you've gone through all the steps mentioned above, I'd suggest reaching our Technical Support team for further help.

Did you ever figure out what was going on? I'm having the same thing happen, and not finding any problems.

Allow me to take a moment in this conversation and provide some information about your reconciliation concern. @lectraproducts.

Currently, there's no investigation open for this type of issue. If you haven't tried performing the troubleshooting steps shared by SashaMC above, we can go through the same steps to better isolate this one.

You can also do a manual reconciliation using the company sample file in QuickBooks Desktop to know if your company file is damaged.  Please follow the steps outlined by my peer above.

If this behavior continues after trying the suggestions above, I encourage reaching out to our Support Team team. This way, a representative can review the root cause of the error and can investigate this further.

Here's how:

  1. Select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
  2. Click Contact Us.
  3. Type in a short description of your concern, then Continue.
  4. Choose a way to connect with support.
