You can cancel bill payments submitted in error so that the transaction doesn't go through. However, there are limitations for this:
- If one was created before 3PM PST, it can be cancelled up until 4PM PST on the business day before the Process Date.
- If a payment was submitted after 3PM PST, you have until 6PM PST on the business day before the Process Date to cancel it.
I'll walk you through the process. Here's how to cancel a payment in QuickBooks Online Bill Pay:
1. Once you've signed in to your account, go to Transactions, then Expenses.
2. Click the Pay Bills Online button.
3. Open the Sent Payments tab.
4. Find the one you're looking for.
5. Choose Track Status.
6. Select Cancel Payment. When asked if you're sure you want to cancel, confirm your selection by choosing Yes.
Your payment will now be cancelled and you can redo it as necessary.
