Reporting by employee class

Have run reports and then been able to filter by "class".  Each employee has a class.  For one employee I cannot get him to show in report by his class.  He is class "2".  He will show if report run by all classes but not by his class of "2".  Checked and under his profile in Payroll Info it shows his class as "2".  So why not showing when I run report by his class?

Reporting by employee class

Good morning @Vaa,

If you’d like to show class on the Report, you’ll want to add a class in the Employee's Paycheck. Adding class to the employee's profile will not display a class to the report.

The class depends on the transactions of the employee. You’ll want to ensure that the class is associated with the employee’s paycheck.

Here’s a screenshot for your visual reference:

Once done, you can run a payroll transaction detail report.

Let me share this article for your future reference about modifying the report that uses different combinations to look them more personalize: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Reporting by employee class

Hello, @Vaa.

I hope your week has been well. I'd be glad to provide you with information on running reports with classes.

This sounds like an issue that's occuring within your company file. Since you've already checked the employee's profile in payroll, ran a report specific to their class, let's go ahead and do a Verify and Rebuild the data in QuickBooks.

The Verify Data identifies the most commonly known issues within your QuickBooks Desktop company file while Rebuild Data resolves most data issue that the Verify data finds.

Here's how to Verify Data:

  1. Select the Window option then Close All.
  2. Verify Data and then choose File.
  3. Click on Utilities.
  4. Pick Verify Data.

To Rebuild Data:

  1. Go to File, Utilities, and then choose Rebuild Data.
  2. A warning message will appear to backup your company file, press OK.
  3. Select where you want to save your backup file, then click on OK.
  4. The Rebuild Data utility starts as soon as the backup is finished.
  5. Choose OK  when the message "Rebuild has completed."

Once you've gone through the steps above, check for remaining data damage just to be sure:

  1. Run Verify Data again to check for remaining data damage. Select File, and Utilities then Verify Data.
  2. If the Verify detects additional damage, it means the damage will need to be manually corrected. Locate the error within the qbwin.log and search for a resolution at the QuickBooks Desktop Support site.
  3. If your error cannot be found, you can try restoring a recent backup. Choose File then Restore.*Make sure that you do not overwrite your existing company file. Any information entered in the company file since the backup was created must be manually reentered after you restore it.

That should do it. After the Verify and Rebuild process, you'll be able to run a report, filter it, and see the employee with that specific class.

Please let me know if the steps above do the trick.  If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to comment back to this thread. Happy Wednesday!

Reporting by employee class

Did verify and rebuild and both had no errors.  Do not think it has to do with the Company file.  Since only employee that does not show is our latest hire from last year?  He does show when we run report for all classes?  Just not included with other employees who have "Class 2". Any other ideas?

Did verify and rebuild with no errors and still for this one employee not showing when reports run by "Class 2".  Tried changing his class to another class and if changed he does not show up in that class either.  So somehow just not seeing his class.  Any ideas?
