Reporting on total dollar amount of invoice paid by retainer and payments

How do I report on retainers and payments together for one invoice in desktop enterprise without it showing a $0? I want to see the actual invoice amount total paid.

Reporting on total dollar amount of invoice paid by retainer and payments

I understand that you want to make some changes and improvements to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to meet your business needs, trocky.

I recognize the convenience of viewing the exact Amount paid for your invoice by retainers and payments in your reports. However, the option to accomplish this in QBDT is currently unavailable.

It would be nice to have this as an option, as it will help you run your business seamlessly. That said, I recommend sending your thoughts about viewing the exact amount paid for invoice payments to our developers. Ideas like this help identify the features our customers want the most for consideration in future enhancements. Here's how you can submit feedback:

  1. Click the Help menu located at the top.
  2. Select Send Feedback Online, then click Product Suggestion.
  3. Type in your feedback or feature request.
  4. Click the Send Feedback button.

I've also included an article that'll help you keep track of your sales and expenses in QBDT. This helps you focus on the most important information to your business: Customize Customer, Job, and Sales Reports.

Please know that you're always welcome to post a reply in this thread if you have any other questions about your QBDT account. It's always my pleasure to help you out again. Keep safe!

It will not help to suggest this to the developers because they only care about is moving businesses to QBO.  Instead of having developers on a team for each version type, they're putting all the energy into one version...QB Online!

It's amazing that an accounting tool can't perform a simple task of listing an invoice, the paid date and all the payments that went towards that invoice - no matter if it was a payment or a sales receipt/deposit/retainer.
