Reporting

I am attempting to run a report that will allow me to automate my ordering process for all Open Sales Orders.  In this report, I need the following fields:

Date

Due Date

Number

Name

Quantity

Item Description

When I export to excel, the "Item Description" field is picking up the description from the Item List, NOT the actual Item Description that Sales Order it is attached to. This is an issue, as we have information in the Item Description box on each Sales Order and that information is not flowing through.  

Ultimately, I am trying to run a macro to make my life easier and need that custom field usable as a number so that I am able to run my functions in Excel.

Hi there, NET2019.

 

Let me help with your question about running reports. The Open Sales Orders by Item report automatically includes the following column:

 

  • Date
  • Due Date
  • Number
  • Quantity

 

However, the Item Description column will display the information that was typed in the Item List. You'll need to open each Sales Order to see the actual description used in the transaction. If it's a custom field that was added to the customer's profile. Follow these steps on how to add it on the report:

 

  1. Open the Open Sales Orders by Item report.
  2. Click Customize Report.
  3. Under the Display tab, type in the name of the custom field in the Columns section.
  4. Put a checkmark on it and click OK. 

 

I'd also recommend sending feedback or a feature request directly to our engineers. I'll share with you the steps on how you can send it from QuickBooks. Here's how: 

 

  1. Go to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Click Product Suggestion.
  3. Type in your suggestion and feature request.
  4. Click Send Feedback
