Hi. I am trying to run a report that will show me the total paid to 3 different vendors for each job. I found the job costs by vendor and job summary report that shows this information. I just need to be able to filter it by the 3 vendors I am looking at. We have at least 100 different vendors so looking through them all is a bit too time consuming for my liking. Any suggestions? I am using the desktop premier version.

Hi @kdgroves18,

Follow these steps to filter out the vendors you'll see on the Job Costs by Vendor and Job Summary report in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

  1. Ensure the date range is correct.
  2. Click Customize Report.
  3. Go to the Filters tab.
  4. Search for Preferred Vendor.
  5. Under the drop-down menu, tap Multiple vendors
  6. From the list, choose the three vendors you want to see on the report.
  7. Press OK, then OK again.

View this article for more information about the report customization process in QBDT: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop

When you create custom reports, you can save them if you want to use them again in the future. See this article for the steps: Create, access, and modify memorized reports.

Hit the Reply button if you have other questions about reports in QBDT. I'll be around to help you out.

It didn't work. It acts like it is refreshing but then I still see all of the vendors.

Hey there, kdgroves18.

Thanks for following the solution shared by my peer and letting us know the result. I’ll help point you in the right direction, so you can run the Job Costs by Vendor and Job Summary with only three different vendors.

We’ll have to check on how the report is customized including the items added on the Filter tab. It requires us to access the company file to identify the cause of the issue.

The security of your data always comes first, so I recommend you get in touch with our Technical Support Team. They can perform in-depth troubleshooting in a secure space. Then, guide you on how to apply the permanent fix.

  1. Click on the Help icon at the top menu bar to select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
  2. When the Have a Question window opens, scroll down to choose the Contact us link.
  3. This will display the Contact Us screen.
  4. Tap the Search for something else link and type the issue or topic in the field box.
  5. Press the Search option to display the Get Phone Number or Start a Message button.

Let me also share this article for future references. It contains topics and links about personalizing the layout of a report. From there, you’ll see detailed information on how to use the following tabs Display, Filters, Header/Footer, Fonts & Numbers: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

Keep in touch if you have any clarifications or other concerns. I’ll be around to answer them for you. Have a good one.
