My request is for a graphing capability in QuickBooks that shows a stacked bar of income and expenses month by month for a Fiscal Year (current or specified previous year). I would also like to be able to compare income and expenses for the last 2 to 5 fiscal years month by month. In other words a line for each year with $ plotted on the Y axis and months plotted on the X axis. The goal would be useful in determining what months to spread the budgets for income and expenses. And during the fiscal year we could more easily see if the current year is following previous years patterns.

Hi there, Steve.
There's a graphical comparison of your income and expenses in your Dashboard. However, there's no option to show the data month by month for the last 5 fiscal years. You can only select between This fiscal year or Last fiscal year.
You might also want to open the Business Snapshot report. Here's how:
In addition, you can run a Profit and Loss Comparison report to get the data for the past 5 years. Then, export it to Excel and create a graphic bar using the information from the report.
To open your Profit and Loss, please follow these steps:
You can also click the drop-down arrow for Compare another period and check Previous Period. Although, this will only give you the date for the current and previous period.
You can always visit us again if you have other questions.
Is there anything like this for desktop version?
Good Afternoon, @yfreeman.
Thanks for joining in on this thread. At this time, there isn't an option for the Business Snapshot report in QuickBooks Desktop. However, you can export a report to Excel.
Here's how:
Here's an article that can help you out with exporting reports: Export reports as Excel workbooks in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you need any further assistance, feel free to ask. Have a great day!
