It has to be their I just can't seem to find it. I just want to show a simple graph that shows sales year to date compared to the previous 5 years. Or even just a report that would do the same, all I can get the report to do is the previous year, I need to go back at least 5 years.
While you can only preview last year's graph on your Home page, you can pull up the Sales by Graph report. Then, customize the date to show your company's income for the specified period.
Let me guide you through on how to accomplish this:
The information I shared above will help you compare your sales from previous years.
Let me know if there are other graphs you want to see and I'd be glad to walk you through on how to get them.
That is not what I am looking for. I want to see a bar for each year, not each month. I want to compare my sales through the years. 2018 - 2017 - 2016 - 2015 - 2014 - ect
Also I am on desktop not online.
I appreciate you getting back to us, mopar_mudder.
Allow me to take over and help you generate a report that shows sales by year via QuickBooks Desktop.
Comparing the sales through the years isn't currently available in QuickBooks Desktop. While this option isn't available, as a workaround, you can customize the Dates in the Sales Graph report by Year per Month and print it.
Or, you can pull up the Company Snapshot. See the steps below.

The company snap shot is what I am looking for. But I don't see how to change it to year to date. For the current year it shows only sales to date obviously, but prior years show sales for the entire year so you can't compare it to the current year.
Thanks for getting back to me, mopar_mudder.
Allow me to provide additional information regarding comparing sales by year in QuickBooks Desktop.
Right now, comparing your sales in the prior years to the current year isn't currently available in QuickBooks Desktop. QuickBooks will compare it to the same period.
As a workaround, you can pull up the Profit & Loss report and export it into Excel so you can create a sales graph.
