Because a tax liability similar to the billing. You have to pay something to government as the vendor,

Yes, you’re correct, SaulA.

 

Sales tax is generated from your sales (customers) that are submitted and paid to the state agency which are considered as vendors. That’s why it’s under the Vendors menu so we can easily setup and pay them to the tax collecting agency.

 

Looks like you’ve already turned on this feature already, we can now add the taxes and assign codes to them. You can either go to the companies Preferences under the Edit menu or via the Vendors menu. I’m attaching this article that will help you in the sales tax workflow in QuickBooks Desktop.
