Shortage report not showing in Inventory Assembly

Good day, When building an inventory assembly, the system indicates that there are shortages in certain inventory parts. However, when I click the “Show Shortage” button, the affected inventory items do not appear in the shortage report. Please see the attached file for reference.Kindly advise on why the items are not reflecting in the shortage report and how this issue can be resolved.

Shortage report not showing in Inventory Assembly

Hello, Oliver.

Thank you for the information and screenshot. The issue of missing items in the shortage report could be caused by inactive inventory items, incorrect setup as inventory parts.

To resolve this, verify that all components are active, properly set up as inventory parts, and check for potential filters applied to the shortage report.

Here's how:

  1. Select Lists from the top menu in QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Choose Item List from the dropdown.
  3. Locate the components in the list, then confirm they are active. Right-click any inactive item and choose Make Item Active
  4. Double-click each component, check the Type field, and confirm it is set to Inventory Part or Inventory Assembly
  5. Review the Quantity on Hand in the item details to ensure there's sufficient inventory available.

Additionally, the maximum quantity you can build based on current inventory is 78. If you plan to build 86 assemblies, mark the transactions as Pending in the Build Assembly window until you can restock sufficient components.

If there's anything else we can assist you with, don't hesitate to reach out.

Shortage report not showing in Inventory Assembly

I can't open the pdf file but I know that parts that are on Open Purchase Orders do not show up on Shortage Reports even if there aren't enough in stock. That's valuable info that Quickbooks support neglected to share. Intuit, please train your support people better.
