Should I create a petty cash bank account for cash transactions? How does this help with reconcilation of accounts? Where do I find the answer

I switched from QB desktop with the accounts reconciled to online and now the accounts are not the same.

Hi @GenOL , you could use clearing/washing account for easier renconciling. Petty cash make you easier too when reconcile because of lower amount and placed in sub bank account.  If you want to set up petty cash here i give you the article to setup petty cash

You need reclassify/recategorize different transaction accounts in QBO. Comment back, cheers.

Should I create a petty cash bank account for cash transactions? How does this help with reconcilation of accounts? Where do I find the answer

Hi, thanks for your response.  The article on how to set up a petty cash account was pretty clear and something I will do going forward.

But for now it does not answer the question of what happened to the reconcilation I did on the desktop version which was correct but now that I have transferred to QBO is not and I'm urgently needing to solve this problem for an outstanding report.

Also I'm not an accountant and do not have an accounting backgrounds so starting from scratch.  Technical terms like washing/cleaning account sounds great but not meaningful to a novice.  Thanks
