Hi Carl,
I'll help you check as to why your journal entry (JE) numbers are following a different format than what you had before.
The first thing to check is the Custom transaction numbers feature, and see if it's enabled. With this feature's enabled, the system will the numbering format on a sales transaction or a JE.
To check:
- Go to the Gear icon.
- Select Account and Settings.
- Click the Sales tab.
- Tap the Sales form content section, then look for Custom transaction numbers.
- If it's enabled, then your QuickBooks Online (QBO) company will follow the numbering format last used for it.
- Otherwise, QBO will use the default numbering format.
- When finished, hit Done.
I also suggest turning off this feature once you're done setting up your custom number format. This way, the system will always follow what you set, and there's no longer an option to accidentally change it into something else. See this article for more information: How to change the invoice number on sales forms.
If you wish to print your journal entries, take a look at this article: Print a journal entry report. It has the steps on how you can print either a single journal entry, or several journal entries at once.
