Buy nowTags are only being received when they are input for my Bank Account, not my Pay Pal account.
I can tag transactions, and run reports on those tags when they are associated with my Bank account. So I make a deposit, I tag that deposit. That transaction shows up in the Tags area. I am able to run a report on it.
I do the exact same thing within my Pay Pal account, but it doesn't register. I am able to add the tags to a Pay Pal transaction. But those transactions do not show up in the Tags area. If I try to run a report on said tag, it comes up as no transactions.
Anyone else having this issue with Tags and Pay Pal. Or any other issues where tags that are input to specific transactions are not registering. Thank you.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, @Inferno. I've come to ensure you'll be able to assign and run reports by tags to your PayPal transactions seamlessly.
To isolate the issue, let's perform basic troubleshooting steps. Running your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account in an incognito browser is an initial step for this. This mode does not store data files that might cause issues when accessing websites. Below are the shortcut keys you can use:
Once signed in, attempt to add tags to your PayPal transactions and then run a report again. If this works, you'll have to clear your browser's cache to have a clean slate. This also enhances your browser's background processes to avoid issues. If not, I'd recommend using another supported browser. We have to ensure that your system meets the minimum requirements needed to smoothly run QBO.
In case you want to save time in categorizing downloaded transactions from your bank, you can create bank rules in QBO. This will speed up the review process.
Leave a reply below if you have any other concerns about tagging transactions in QBO. I'll be always around to help. Take care and have a good one.
Yes, thanks for your response. Adding the tags for Pay Pal in private mode did not work also. My Mac OS and browser are not the very latest, but well within the range specified in the system requirements.
Mac OS: 10.15.7
Safari: 15.3
Thanks for your response. Using the private mode on my browser did not change the issue. The tags that I created for a transaction in Pay Pal did not register in the tags area. I'm not using the most current Mac OS, but it's well within the system requirements.
Mac OS: 10.15.7
Browser: Safari 15.3
Any other ideas why this could be happening? Thanks.
I've also tried it while using the Chrome browser. Still no luck. This is what I'm doing step by step, just to be clear.
1. I select my Pay Pal account in the banking dashboard
2. I go down and select one "for review" transaction.
3. I input the tag in the tag window (Activity: Game Night)
4. I hit add, and the transaction is recorded.
5. I go up to Tags Area, click that.
6 Scroll down and there are no transactions under the tag I just used. (See attached pic)
Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing the troubleshooting steps you've done, Inferno.
You can try other browsers, like Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge. If you're still unable to use tags on PayPal transactions, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Online Live Team. They can create a case and send it to our Product Team for further investigation.
Here's how to get in touch with them.
