The Match function does not pull in all the available journal entries that are needed for the match.

Note that one of the journal entries that I need pulled into the match is in an amount that is greater than the bank deposit amount

It's nice to see you here today, @rlatz,

When you connect your bank for online banking, the system tries to match them with transactions you've already entered into QuickBooks. We use the DateDescriptionPayee, and amount spent or received to get the entries matched.

If you can't find the transactions for matching or it gives you the incorrect entry to match, try using a private browser. Unexpected issues in QuickBooks are sometimes affected by the amount of data stored in the cache. This is because a regular browser will constantly overwrite itself and will not remove history unless done manually.

Private browsing will not save any history, so it's a great place to identify issues in the browser. Use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift N

Once done, find the downloaded transaction with the Match option in the Action column. You can also use the Find a match feature to locate multiple entries.

If it works, clear the cache to resolve browser issues in QBO. Using a different browser can also help.
