The reporting period for Profit & Loss reverts to May 30, 2018

Every time I switch between the two companies I have in Quickbooks Desktop 2017, the one company's P & L Budget vs Actual report always goes back to May 30, 2018.  It is now March 2019 and this is very frustrating to update it every time.  I have tried customizing it and re-saving the memorized report, but nothing fixes this problem.  Every time, without fail, the report says May 30, 2018, until I change it to "This Fiscal Year to Date" and refresh the report.  Help!  It only happens in one of the two companies; the other company whose records I maintain works fine.

Re: The reporting period for Profit & Loss reverts to May 30, 2018

Hello there, @Kim 0625.

Thanks for posting in the Community. Let me help fix your reporting period for Profit & Loss.

Have you tried deleting the memorized report? We can attempt deleting the report and create a new one to check if the report still goes back to the previous date. You can refer to this link for the steps: Create, access and modify memorized reports.

However, if the issue persists, it's possible that your report templates are likely damaged. If this is the case, reverting to the default report formatting may help fix this problem. Please refer to this article for the steps: Set report preferences.

Keep me posted how it goes. I can help provide further troubleshooting steps if the steps above won't work.

If you have additional questions about your report, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm always here to help.

Thanks Lily.  Although I was not able to delete the memorized report as such, I closed it (I had just always minimized it in the past) and opened a new report among the listing of report options.  I customized it and saved it under a different name ... and all is well now!  Thanks so much!!

It's great to have you here, @gub,

Thanks for joining the conversation. Let' make sure you get past the issue with your reports in QuickBooks.

If you're experiencing unusual behavior when opening your saved or Memorized reports, it's possible that your report list is damaged or corrupted. To fix this, you'll need to Re-sort your list. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reportmenu.
  2. Click Memorized Reports, then hit Memorized Reports List.
  3. Tap the Memorized Reports drop-down and select Re-sort List.
  4. Select OK on the prompt.

You can also try LilyC's suggestion to delete and recreate the report. However, if this does not resolve the issue. Let's try running the Verify/Rebuild Utility to fix data issues within the program. Here are the steps:

To Verify Data:

  1. Go to the File menu.
  2. Tap Utilities then Verify Data.
  3. Click OK on the prompt.

To Rebuild Data:

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Go to Utilities and select Rebuild Data.
  3. Hit OK to back up your company file.
  4. Wait until the Rebuild is complete.
  5. Click View Results.

That should get you pointed in the right direction, @gub.
