Does a report exist to be able to report on costs recorded against a project? The profitability report does not work for me as not all expenses are recorded against an expense account - for capital projects I am allocating to asset accounts.

Costs under the project name from the Balance Sheet report must also post to your Project report. If it's now showing up, let's make sure that both reports have the same data for an accurate result. You can modify the dates from the Report period section.
Open your report, Balance Sheet report.
Check the dates selected.
Use the same date when opening the Project report.
