Transaction Detail by Account Report & "-MULTIPLE-" - how to see each of the transactions underneath?

Using a customized version of Transaction Detail by Account report to produce a flat file for further analysis in Excel & Power BI. We are using classes to provide another level of detail, however when an expense has more than one line (for us, separating a payment into several classes), the Transaction Detail by Account report shows "-MULTIPLE-" in both the class & memo fields.

Would love to know if there is a setting in the customization that allows each line of the transaction to show separately.

Thanks for the screenshot, EddieH.

It's possible that your Purchase Orders and Inventory feature is inactive. That's why the Purchases option is unavailable. We can pull up a customized transaction detail report instead, to get the report you need.

Let me show you the easy steps:

  1. Go to the Reports menu, select Custom Reports
  2. Select Transaction Detail
  3. From the Display tab, select these options:

         •    Columns: Item, Class, and Memo
         •    Total by: Account list
         •    Sort and filter the transactions according to your preference.

  4. Click OK

Transactions that have multiple items will be itemized according to their associated class and account.

You might want to save the customized reports so you don't have to filter it all over again every time you run it. Just click the Memorize button from the menu and fill our the rest of the information. Hit OK

It's fantastic to have you here, @EddieH,

The -MULTIPLE- tag on the Class column of a Transaction Detail by Account report is the way the system categorize multiple classes assigned to every purchases.

If you want a more detailed document to show an itemized class listing per transaction, use a Purchase by Vendor Detail Report. Here's how to generate it:

  1. From the Reports menu, select Purchases.
  2. Pick Purchases by Item Detail from the list.
  3. Filter the date you want to view then click Refresh.
  4. To modify the report to only show bills, click the Customize Report button.
  5. On the Display tab, choose the Class below the Columns section.
  6. Tap the Filters tab and select Transaction Type from the list of filters.
  7. In the Transaction Type drop-down, click on Bill.
  8. Hit OK.

Thank you for such a quick reply - I am grateful.

I do not appear to have the same Reports drop down as you. Mine is attached.

Suggestions?
