transfer parts to whole goods

How do I adjust the inventory for parts used to produce a single product?

Example    I'm building an item using parts out of my inventory.  I want to take those parts out of stock and

create one new inventory item.    Please advise

can help you manage your inventory parts in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @671948.

You'll want to unbuild the item so you can reuse those stocks to create a new product item in QBDT since you've already used those parts in an assembly.

To unbuild the item, you can directly go to the Assembly window and delete it. Here's how:

  1. Go to the List menu, and click Item List.
  2. Find the Assembly Item.
  3. Click the item and then Delete.

Please see this article for further reference about building your inventory items: Combine your inventory items to build finished goods. This page also includes links that will give you more info about inventories and guidance on setting up your product's bill of materials.

In addition, you can visit this link if you have to adjust the quantity or total value of your product in QBDT to keep your inventory status accurate: Adjust your inventory quantity or value in QuickBooks Desktop.

Feel free to post again if you have questions about building assembly in QBDT. I'm always around to help. Take care.

Make sure you have QB Desktop Premier or Enterprise to  have the assembly feature. If you are using QB Desktop Pro, you should consider upgrading your version to Premier. Which QB Desktop year version do you run?
