If I run my Trial Balance report for the period 1May2017 to 30Apr2018, only transactions from 2018 are being picked up. What could cause this? I started using multi-currency in 2018, could this influence the Trial Balance report?
This can be a possible data damage, Vonnie1999.
Using the multi-currency feature will not affect the report. Let's run the verify and rebuild utility tools to fix it. These tools work by identifying the data issues within the company file, then resolves it.
Here's how:
After running the utilities, try to open the Trial Balance report again and check the transactions.

Hi, thank you for the prompt reply. When I verify the data in my company file, the system says: Quickbooks detected no problems with your data. Have you any idea what else could be causing this?
I appreciate you performing the steps, Vonnie1999.
We need to take a better look at this to know what's causing the issue. I suggest contacting QuickBooks Technical Support to have this further investigated.

What is your Fiscal Year setting? You cannot bracket the FY with that Calendar date range and expense the 2017 data to show. Look at the top of the report = Dates. Select This Fiscal Year or Last Fiscal Year, if you example dates spans Two FY. You report them Separately.
Remember that only Balance Sheet accounts carry a running balance. Income and Expense are Fiscal Year based.
