Unpaid Bills Report - Incorrect Line Highlighted on QB Online

Has anyone who recently switched from QB desktop to online noticed that when you print a report (e.g. Unpaid Bills), the wrong line is highlighted on the online version?

On Desktop, the Company Name is highlighted. This is perfect, because you typically scan the payables alphabetically by company name to see who a large bill is attributed to, etc.

However, instead of Company Name, QB Online bolds the final line "TOTAL for (company name)" line, making all the BOLD headings start with the words "TOTAL FOR". So instead of A, B, C, everything starts with TOTAL in heavy bold. You can opt to hide this line, but then you don't see any details, invoice dates or line items.

Perhaps I'm the only one bothered by this, but it is a key part of what made reading a QB desktop report so simple.

Please repair this or implement in the near future, it genuinely decreases the glanceability of highly detailed reports. Thank you.

Unpaid Bills Report - Incorrect Line Highlighted on QB Online

I appreciate the details you've provided to us, Slickforce.

The layout of the reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and Desktop are different. This is due to the differences in the platforms and the nature of these programs.

While we are unable to change the highlighted details on the Unpaid Bills or any reports in QBO, I have a workaround to share.

You can export the report to Excel and manually highlight the company names.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Reports on the left pane.
  2. Enter and select Unpaid Bills in the search box.
  3. Click Export between the printer and small gear icons.
  4. Select Export to Excel.

I'll also let our developers know that you'll want the company names to be highlighted in the reports in QBO. They make improvements in the program by listening to our users' comments and we take them all into consideration.

Thanks for your response. Though manually highlight the company names? That's hardly practical for a large company.

I understand online and desktop platforms are different, though we are talking about bolding text, not rebuilding the software. I can't think of a reason why the Company Name wouldn't be bolded as in desktop.

Hoping this will be addressed soon, I appreciate you forwarding to development team.
