Hi there, finance-upshot-o.

Thank you for visiting the QuickBooks Community. Let me share some details about how QuickBooks works with different locations. Then, to ensure that you can achieve your goal.

If you mean to sign up for QuickBooks Self Employed (QBSE) US version and you're currently living in the UK, you'll have to ensure that you use a US address when signing up. Then, choose the correct link. You may also want to reach out to our QBSE support team to further assist you in creating a US account.

However, if you're referring to recording your client's information with the US address, you can enter a foreign address. To do this, go to the Invoice section and start documenting the customer's details to track the mailing entry.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Invoices tab.
  2. Choose Create invoice
  3. At the upper part of the invoice, enter your client's name, address, and email address.
  4. Click Save.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to see various information on how QBSE is designed to help you record your income and expenses, track mileage, and prepare your Schedule C: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview.

@ChristieAnn  , they live in the UK and has a US-based client. I don't see the sense of asking those questions if qb self employed can't handle multicurrency transactions in the first place.

Hi, appreciate you for joining this thread and adding further clarification. I'd like to share a few details about @finance-upshot-o concern.

Since you're using the QuickBooks Self-Employed product, there's no option to handle a US-based client as well as clients from other countries. This is due to the limited features of the product. That's the reason why the questions are not applicable to you.

As a workaround, you can manually record the converted amount. Create a transaction and manually enter details.

  1. Select Add Transaction from the Transaction menu.
  2. Fill in the amount and a brief description.
  3. Choose a category from the drop-down menu. To organise your transaction, choose the most appropriate category.
  4. You can drag and drop a receipt onto the form if you have one.
  5. Select Save when you're finished.

Also, I'd suggest submitting a product suggestion directly to our software engineers. We're taking notes of your ideas and insights. Here's how to submit feedback in Self-Employed:

  1. Select the Assistant feature.
  2. Type and enter "feedback" into the chat.
  3. Follow the prompts and select Give feedback.
