We haven’t used our QB in some time. How can I start over with out losing my customer and vendor lists?

Thank you for dropping by here in the Community, @jon102. I can provide some details about importing data from QuickBooks Online.

You can purge your data; however, this will depend on how long you've used QuickBooks.

You can reset your account that is more than 60 days old to start fresh. If it's older than that, you cancel it and start over again.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online as an admin user.
  2. Go to Settings and select Account and Settings.
  3. Click the Billing & Subscription tab.
  4. In the QuickBooks section, select Cancel subscription or Cancel online
  5. Follow the onscreen steps.

After you cancel your QuickBooks Online membership, you'll have read-only access to your data for a year. Please see this article for more information: What happens to my data after I cancel QuickBooks Online (QBO)?

If your QBO account is already expires, then another workaround is to export the list of customers and vendors. Then, important them to the new account. check out this page for more details on moving lists in QuickBooks Online.

Hop in once more if you still have any concerns. I'd delighted to help you.

@jon102

If you are using QBO Simple Start or your account > 60 days old, you should open a new blank QBO account.
