Yes, you're right. There are three ways in QuickBooks Online to add receipts.
Email to a special Receipt Capture email.
Drag/drop to the Receipts center.
Take a picture using the QuickBooks mobile app.

You can go to the Receipt Capture page to upload receipts in QuickBooks Online (QBO) using a mobile app. Let me guide you how.
Go to the Home, click the + icon located in the lower part.
Click Receipt capture.
Hit Use this photo.
Select the Upload photo.
Once done, if the receipt option is not showing in your end, access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) through your computer or using the mobile browser. From there, you can follow the steps in this article to add receipts: Manage your receipts in the Receipts tab.
