What is a debit and credit in journal entry? I keep getting the "something's not right" warning when trying to save an employee reimbursement entry.

You reimburse them with Money. You use Check Expense to list what you reimbursed them for. You don't use Debit-Credit and Journal Entry for this. There is no JE when a Name is involved, either. There is no JE if you want to reimburse them through Payroll Direct Deposit, because that will be added to the paycheck.

So, journal entry is the Wrong Transaction to be using, at all. You are paying for a Program with an interface = set of Tools. Debit-Credit is Brute Force accounting. You don't need this.

And if you are repaying them for something you track as Product/Services, such as Noninventory materials, you cannot list Products/Service on the Journal Entry. If you needed to assign that to the direct customer, or mark it Billable, neither of these is part of Journal Entry, either.
