Why do my paid invoices not show up in my P&L

Why do my paid invoices not show up in my P&L

@bwa7676-gmail-co  Two explanations immediately come to mind.

If you are set to Accrual basis, marking the invoice paid won't change anything; the invoice was already recognized as income upon creation.

Alternatively, whatever line items are involved in the invoice may not be properly linked to P&L accounts. In this case, you should edit the items in question and see where they are set to flow to.

Why do my paid invoices not show up in my P&L

I'm here to help clarify how QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) handles invoices and share alternate methods to track and view your income, bwa7676.

In addition to the information shared by FishingForAnswers, when you create or mark an invoice as paid in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), it's mainly tracked for record-keeping purposes. The Profit and Loss report pulls its data from the Transactions page, which includes both downloaded and manually added entries.

You may want to look into QuickBooks Solopreneur or QuickBooks Online (QBO) to manage your sales transactions and other accounting processes. These programs will track your income and show it in the Profit and Loss report. Open each link below to learn how each product works:

@Rasa-LilaM  "You may want to look into QuickBooks Solopreneur or QuickBooks Online (QBO) to assist with tracking your sales and transactions and other accounting tasks."

Alternatively, you could love and respect yourself and go to QuickBooks Desktop instead.

Or really, literally anything other than moving fully into QBO.
