I appreciate you trying to resolve the issue by using other browsers to edit some details. I have checked and found no report or investigation about this concern.
We can start by using a private browser instead of a regular browser. Here are the different keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:
If everything goes smoothly, switch to your default browser and delete its cache. Follow the instructions below based on the browser you're using: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

Still broken can not change the detail of a particular account in Chart of Accounts. nor can you the type of account

Before doing so, did you encounter any specific error message after clicking the Save button? Any additional details, such as screenshots, would help me provide you with correct information.
We can change the type of account as long as it is not a default account in QBO. First, you can visit this article to know what accounts can't be modified in the Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks: Manage default and special accounts in your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts.
Once you confirm the specific account is not a default account, you'll have to start from the subaccounts editing an account type if there are any. Then, change the parent account when all of them have been adjusted:
After that, visit this article and go to the Return accounts to sub-accounts status section to link them back to the parent account: Change the type of an existing parent account or subaccount in QuickBooks Online.
