Will someone tell me why I can't input a cost on a non-inventory part? I used to be able to.

Do you have a Plus plan (or Advanced plan)?

Click "Purchase Information" checkbox, you will see the Cost field to enter for the non-inventory item.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for posting your question here in the Community forum, @darren9.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO) when users encountered an unexpected behavior, it's generally recommended to try general browser troubleshooting.

To get started, use a private browser. This is to verify if this is caused by the system or your browser. To do so, you can use the keyboard shortcuts below:

  • Chrome: Ctrl+Shift+N
  • Internet Explorer: Ctrl+Shift+P
  • Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+
  • Safari: Command+Shift+N

Once done, try to create a non-inventory item again. Check to see if it works.

If you're still unable to enter the cost, you can clear the cache of the browser you're using. The cache is stored to speed up browser loading times, however, too much can accumulate and impact processes and caused unexpected behavior. For more information about this process, here's an article that you can check: Delete or Disable Cache and Temporary Internet Files in Your Web Browser

Additionally, to learn more about adding non-inventory item, here's a great resource that you can read: Add product and service items to QuickBooks Online.
