WIP Report does not reconcile with WIP "register"

Hello,

I have a $166.01 balance in the WIP register -  BUT in the WIP Report -which is set to show Acccount WIP - shows that everything has been zeroed out.  (It was zeroed out by Closing WIP)

Have spent hours trying to figure out how/why there is the $166.01 balance in the register - it makes sense that when I closed out WIP that i am short the $166.01...but if that is the case why isn't it showing on the WIP report?

I suppose worse case, if I cant figure it out, I will just reduce the $166.01 by transferring that from WIP to Expense... but I'd rather find out where it is.

Thank you so much for any help or tips, tricks to reconcile this.

WIP Report does not reconcile with WIP "register"

The key to find the $166.01 was instead of creating my own report - I 'right-clicked' within the register and selected "quick report" which then created the report that showed the $166.01 and I was able to correct the entry.

WIP Report does not reconcile with WIP "register"

A possible data damage might have caused the discrepancy between the WIP report and WIP Register, ThanksInAdvance.

I'll share some steps that can resolve common data issue in QuickBooks. Let's start by using the Verify/Rebuild Data Utility Tool. Here's how:

Verify data

  1. Go to the File menu, scroll-down to Utilities, and then select Verify Data.
  2. You'll see any of the following message after QuickBooks has completely scanned the data:
    • "QuickBooks detected no problems with your data," no further action is needed.
    • A specific error message, there may already be an article for it. Try searching for it in our QuickBooks Desktop support site for specific instructions.
    • "Your data has lost integrity," indicates there is data damage in the file.  Continue to the steps below to Rebuild Data to correct the problem.

Rebuild data

  1. Go back to the File menu, scroll-down to Utilities, and then select Rebuild Data.
  2. You will receive a warning message to backup your company file, press OK.
  3. Click OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".

Once done, check if both WIP report and WIP Register are showing the same amount. You can also use the QuickBooks File Doctor to fix your company file in case you're still getting the same result.

WIP Report does not reconcile with WIP "register"

Hello, thanks for your response, although i don't believe that is the issue, as there are no other discrepancies.  Do you have any suggestions or reports i could run that would help me locate the "error"?

Thanks!
