Edit a sales receipt in QuickBooks Point of Sale

Learn how to edit a sales receipt in QuickBooks Point of Sale.

If there’s a mistake on a sales receipt, don’t worry. We’ll show you how to update the receipt so you can reprint it with the correct info.

Note: You can’t edit a receipt after a Financial Exchange, so make sure to make any edits before doing so.

How to add or edit customer info on a receipt

If your receipt has the wrong customer info, you can update it to show correct customer info. Here’s how.

  1. From the Home screen, select Sales History.
  2. Select the Sales Receipt you want to edit.
  3. Select I Want to, then select Change/Edit Customer.
  4. Select the Enter customer name or phone dropdown, then select the customer to apply the receipt to.
  5. Select OK.

How to change the shipping info on a receipt

From here you can edit the shipping info, shipping date, add a tracking number, or update the shipping amount. Keep in mind that if you update the shipping amount, it won’t be added to the receipt but you can find it in your Shipping Manager reports.

  1. From the Home screen, select Sales History.
  2. Select the Sales Receipt you want to edit.
  3. Select I Want to, then select Add/Edit shipping info.
  4. Update the shipping info, then select OK.

How to add a promo code or notes to a receipt

If you need to add a promo code for tracking purposes or add order notes to a receipt, here’s what to do.

  1. From the Home screen, select Sales History.
  2. Select the Sales Receipt you want to edit.
  3. Select I Want to, then select Add/Edit Promo Code/Notes.
  4. Enter the promo code or order notes, then select OK.
